Our next general body meeting is Thursday February 8 at Year Up NY, which is located at 85 Broad Street on the 6th floor. Our host is Ryan Overton.
We start at 10:00AM and conclude at 12:00PM. Please arrive early to allow time for check in and breakfast.
Our topic for the day is Understanding the Landscape of Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs). Akil Bello and Akil Kamau will facilitate a panel discussion with HBCU alumni and seasoned college counselors.
During this session we seek to highlight the history of HBCUs, debunks myths (yes, it is possible to get financial aid at HBCUs) and provide tips for counseling students for whom an HBCU may be the best fit.
